Oct 22, 2024, 04:29 PM
India and Pakistan have agreed to extend the validity of the Agreement on the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for an additional five years. This renewal, facilitated through diplomatic channels, ensures uninterrupted operation of the corridor, allowing continued access for Indian pilgrims to the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. The initial agreement, signed in October 2019, has been renewed to further facilitate the Sikh community's access to their holy sites. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced the extension, emphasizing the Indian government's commitment to supporting the Sikh community. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the renewal, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government will continue to facilitate access for Sikh pilgrims.
