Jan 17, 2025, 04:37 PM
Didier Guillaume, the former French Minister of Agriculture and current Minister of State of Monaco, has died at the age of 65. Guillaume, who served as France's Agriculture Minister from 2018 to 2020 under Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, had been appointed as Monaco's head of government in September 2024. He passed away following a rapid illness during his hospitalization in Nice, as announced by the Principality of Monaco. Guillaume had a long political career, having served as a senator, president of the Drôme departmental council, and mayor of Bourg-de-Péage. He was married to Béatrice Frecenon in 2024. His death has prompted tributes from political figures across France and Monaco, including Prince Albert II, who praised his dedication to public service and his human qualities.
