Makki was known for his role in raising funds for the UN-designated terrorist group and was sanctioned by the U.S., carrying a bounty of up to $2 million. He was the brother-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, the leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and held the position of deputy chief in the group.
