Nevada Court Rejects $380M A's Stadium Funding Petition, 44 Days Before Deadline
May 13, 2024, 06:40 PM
The Nevada Supreme Court has upheld a lower court's decision, rejecting a referendum petition by the political action committee Schools Over Stadiums, which aimed to overturn a $380 million public financing deal for a new Las Vegas stadium for the Oakland Athletics. The court found the petition's language to be legally deficient and confusing, and noted that it failed to include the full text of the relevant bill, SB1. The decision came 44 days before the petition signature deadline. Despite this setback, Schools Over Stadiums has announced plans to continue their legal challenge and to refile the petition next year.
