Ukraine to Receive $2.2 Billion from IMF's Extended Fund Facility
May 31, 2024, 10:41 PM
Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have reached a preliminary agreement to unseal a $2.2 billion chunk of a four-year loan to help cover the war-torn country’s budget. The payout is part of the IMF's Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and comes after Ukraine successfully met the terms of an existing loan program. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the agreement on social media on May 31. The Washington-based financial institution confirmed the payout following a five-day staff mission to the country. The IMF helps countries manage their economies by providing loans and financial advice.
