Supreme Court Closes Contempt Case Against Ramdev and Balkrishna Over Patanjali Misleading Ads
Aug 13, 2024, 09:26 AM
The Supreme Court of India has closed the contempt proceedings against yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, the managing director of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, in relation to misleading advertisements. The court accepted their undertakings to cease issuing misleading ads regarding Patanjali products and their apology. The bench, comprising Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, cautioned Ramdev and Balkrishna that it would take strict action if they fail to adhere to their commitments. The closure of the case provides significant relief to Ramdev and Balkrishna, who were previously under scrutiny for defying a court undertaking. The court also discharged the contempt notice issued to them.
