NYPD Recovers Amogy Inc.'s 5-Foot Drone Abandoned in Brooklyn Navy Yard
Dec 16, 2024, 08:51 PM
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has recovered a large drone abandoned in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The drone, measuring over 5 feet in diameter, was found on the sidewalk between Fifth Street and Morris Avenue. It belongs to Amogy Inc., a sustainable-energy startup. Amogy's CEO, Seonghoon Woo, confirmed that the drone was left on the sidewalk after a company party about a month ago. The NYPD disconnected the drone's nitrogen components to ensure it was safe for transport before taking it to the 88th precinct for safekeeping. This incident comes amid a recent surge in drone sightings in the tri-state area, although the NYPD has noted that the actual number of drone flights has remained steady, attributing the increase in reports to heightened public awareness.
