Zelensky Confident President-elect Trump's Unpredictability Can End Ukraine War
Jan 5, 2025, 08:15 PM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence that incoming U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's strength and unpredictability could help end Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In an interview published by The Sun, Zelensky said that Trump's decisive qualities might be instrumental in stopping Russian President Vladimir Putin and providing Ukraine with strong security guarantees. "He is strong and unpredictable," Zelensky said. "I would very much like President Trump's unpredictability to apply primarily to the Russian Federation." He added, "This shows the influence of Donald Trump, and this has never happened before with an American president." Zelensky also noted that European leaders are attentive to Trump's influence, saying, "When I talk about something with Donald Trump, whether we meet in person or we just have a call, all the European leaders always ask, 'How was it?'" Zelensky believes that the war will end under Trump's presidency and that Trump may be the first leader to visit Ukraine after the conflict ends.
