Elon Musk Moves SpaceX HQ to Starbase, Seeks to Incorporate Site as Texas City

Elon Musk has announced that SpaceX's headquarters will now be officially located in Starbase, Texas, following his earlier decision to relocate both SpaceX and his social media platform X from California to Texas. The transition includes shifting SpaceX's incorporation from Delaware to Texas earlier this year, attracted by the absence of state income tax on individuals. In addition to the headquarters relocation, SpaceX, through its Starbase General Manager Kathryn Lueders, has requested an election from Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. to incorporate Starbase as an official city. This step is seen as necessary to support the expansion of the workforce needed for the development and manufacturing of the Starship rocket. Starbase, located in Boca Chica, Texas, currently houses over 3,400 employees and contractors, and is critical for SpaceX's rocket manufacturing and launch operations. The expansion plans have faced opposition from local environmental groups due to pollution concerns, though SpaceX maintains that state assessments have found no environmental risks.
