Apple to Stop Selling iPhone SE 3 and iPhone 14 Series in EU by End of 2024
Dec 13, 2024, 02:02 PM
Apple Inc. will cease sales of the iPhone SE (3rd generation) and iPhone 14 models, including the iPhone 14 Plus, in the European Union by the end of 2024 due to new regulations mandating USB-C as the universal charging port. These models, which still use Apple's proprietary Lightning port, will no longer be available in Apple's online and retail stores in the EU. The decision aligns with the European Parliament's directive to reduce e-waste and standardize charging ports across consumer devices. Apple has chosen not to produce new versions of these models with USB-C ports, opting instead to discontinue them earlier than planned. The transition is expected to be smooth as Apple plans to introduce a new iPhone SE model in spring 2025, featuring a USB-C port and other significant upgrades.
