VisitAmazon Settles With OSHA for $145,000, Agrees to Nationwide Measures to Prevent Ergonomic Injuries
Dec 19, 2024, 11:58 PM
Amazon has reached a settlement with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to address allegations of hazardous workplace conditions at its facilities. The agreement requires Amazon to implement new safety measures, including ergonomic measures, across all its U.S. facilities to prevent ergonomic injuries, such as back problems and other musculoskeletal disorders. As part of the settlement, Amazon will pay a penalty of $145,000. The measures include assessing ergonomic risks at all facilities and conducting annual updates to enhance safety. OSHA's inspections, which began in 2022 across 10 Amazon facilities, led to the allegations of workers being exposed to back injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders. The settlement is described as the largest of its kind and will apply nationwide, protecting hundreds of thousands of Amazon workers.
