Iran's presidential election, held on June 28, is heading to a runoff on July 5, as no candidate secured a majority. Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian leads with 10,415,991 votes (42.6%), followed by hardliner Saeed Jalili with 9,473,298 votes (38.8%). The voter turnout was approximately 40%, the lowest in the history of the Islamic Republic. Other candidates, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and Mostafa Pourmohammadi, received 3,383,340 and 206,397 votes, respectively. The election has seen fluctuating leads between Pezeshkian and Jalili, with the latest figures confirming a runoff is necessary. A total of 24,535,185 ballots were counted.
