Official announcements from China's Ministry of Commerce
China to Offer Tariff-Free Trade to Least Developed Countries, Including Afghanistan
Oct 25, 2024, 08:30 AM
China announced that starting December 1, it will implement zero-tariff treatment on 100% of taxable items from least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with it, Assistant Minister of Commerce Tang Wenhong said. This includes granting duty-free access to 100 percent of products from Afghanistan, as confirmed by Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian. The decision aims to promote bilateral trade cooperation and achieve mutual benefits. China is the first major developing country to offer such a comprehensive tariff-free trade policy. The move also strengthens China's ties with the Taliban, offering tariff-free access in sectors including construction, energy, and consumer goods.
