Miyazaki Airport in southwest Japan was temporarily closed on October 2, 2024, after an unexploded U.S. bomb from World War II detonated near its runway. The explosion created a crater seven meters wide and one meter deep in the taxiway, leading to the cancellation of 87 flights. No injuries were reported.
