VisitOpenAI to Launch 'Orion' AI Model, Potentially 100x GPT-4, with Microsoft Hosting in November
Oct 25, 2024, 02:01 AM
OpenAI is reportedly planning to launch its next advanced AI model, codenamed 'Orion', by December this year, according to The Verge. Unlike previous models, Orion won't be widely released through ChatGPT initially; instead, OpenAI plans to first grant access to select partner companies to aid them in developing their own products and features. There are rumors that Orion could be up to 100 times more powerful than GPT-4. Engineers at Microsoft, OpenAI's main deployment partner, are preparing to host Orion on Azure as early as November. While Orion is considered the successor to GPT-4 within OpenAI, it is unclear if the company will officially name it GPT-5 upon public release.
