NTSB Issues Urgent Safety Recommendations for Boeing 737, Including 737 MAX, Over Rudder Control Jam
Sep 26, 2024, 10:53 PM
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued urgent safety recommendations concerning the Boeing 737 aircraft, including the 737 MAX line. The warnings highlight the potential for critical flight controls to jam due to faulty components. Specifically, more than 353 Collins Aerospace actuators on Boeing 737 aircraft were incorrectly assembled, making them susceptible to moisture that can freeze and limit rudder system movement. The recommendations follow an incident in February involving a United Airlines flight and potential rudder actuator failure. The NTSB is urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing to address these safety concerns on approximately 350 Boeing 737 models currently in operation.
