Indiana Rises to No.5 in CFP Rankings; Georgia Drops Out of Playoff Picture
Nov 13, 2024, 02:08 AM
The College Football Playoff (CFP) committee released the second rankings of the 2024 season on November 12. Oregon retains the top spot at No.1, followed by Ohio State at No.2, Texas at No.3, and Penn State at No.4. Indiana, boasting a 10-0 record, has risen to No.5, achieving its highest position in CFP history. The Hoosiers would receive the No.7 seed and potentially host No.10 Alabama in a first-round game under the current playoff projections. BYU is ranked No.6. Georgia, despite being ranked No.12 in both the CFP and AP polls, would not be in the College Football Playoff if the season ended today. The Big Ten dominates the top five with four teams—Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana—occupying four of the top five spots. The updated CFP rankings have significant implications for the expanded 12-team playoff bracket.
