Diamond Sports' Court-Approved Rebranding: Bally Sports Becomes FanDuel Sports Network on October 21
Oct 18, 2024, 04:36 PM
Diamond Sports Group, the bankrupt parent company of Bally Sports regional networks, has secured court approval for a naming rights agreement with FanDuel, a leading online betting company. Under the deal, Bally Sports networks will be rebranded as FanDuel Sports Network starting on October 21, ahead of the NBA and NHL seasons. The rebranding aims to boost revenue and assist Diamond Sports Group in its efforts to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy. FanDuel will acquire a 5% ownership stake in the new regional sports network company, with performance-based rights to an additional 5%. FanDuel TV content will also be integrated into the regional sports networks. The change is not expected to affect customers, as channel numbers and content will remain the same, though graphics and branding will be updated. The Bally Sports app will transition to the FanDuel Sports Network app on the same day.
