The 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie franchise, distributed by Paramount Pictures, has surpassed the $1 billion milestone in global box office earnings, driven by the success of its third installment, 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3'. Directed by Jeff Fowler, the latest film has contributed over $336 million to the franchise's total, with domestic earnings reaching $187.5 million and international earnings at $148.8 million. 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' grossed $21.2 million in its third weekend domestically, marking a 43% drop from the previous weekend. The franchise's first two films, released in 2020 and 2022, had previously grossed a combined $725.2 million globally. The success of the franchise extends beyond the box office, with the spinoff series 'Knuckles' becoming the No. 1 Kids & Family series on Paramount+.
