Luigi Mangione Arrested in Pennsylvania for Murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO After FBI Tip
Dec 14, 2024, 06:24 PM
Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old man, was arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the New York Police Department (NYPD), and the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). The FBI spoke with Mangione's mother, Kathleen Mangione, the night before his arrest after receiving a tip from SFPD based on a missing person report she filed on November 18. Although she was not entirely certain, she indicated that the suspect in the surveillance photos might resemble her son. Mangione was apprehended at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where he was carrying four fake IDs, a 3D-printed gun with a homemade silencer, and a handwritten manifesto criticizing health insurance companies. He faces murder charges in New York and is currently being held without bail in Pennsylvania on gun and forgery charges.
