Human Rights Watch Report: Israel's Water Deprivation in Gaza Caused Thousands of Deaths, Calls for Targeted Sanctions

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has released a report accusing Israeli authorities of committing acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip by systematically depriving civilians of access to clean water. The report, titled "Extermination and Acts of Genocide: Israel Deliberately Depriving Palestinians in Gaza of Water," outlines that Israeli actions over the past year have resulted in thousands of deaths due to water deprivation. HRW's findings follow similar accusations from other organizations, including Amnesty International and a UN special rapporteur. The report calls for the international community to impose targeted sanctions against Israel. Israeli officials have consistently denied such allegations, asserting that their military operations in Gaza are legitimate. The situation has been exacerbated by ongoing blockades, which have hindered humanitarian aid and access to essential resources for the Palestinian population in Gaza, particularly in areas like Beit Hanoon, Beit Lahiya, and Jabalia, which have been under siege for over 70 days.
