Three US THAAD Air Defense Systems Now Operational in Israel

The United States has deployed its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) air defense system in Israel. The system, designed to intercept and destroy short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, has become operational as of October 20, 2024. Multiple THAAD launchers and support equipment, including Transporter Erector Launchers (TELs), generators, and fuel trucks, were spotted moving through southern Israel, particularly in the Negev Desert near Be'er Sheva and towards Nevatim Airbase. Around 100 American soldiers have been deployed to operate the system, which aims to enhance Israel's defense capabilities. According to Kann News reports, three THAAD systems are now operational, including a second THAAD system that recently arrived.
