US to Deploy THAAD Missile Defense Operated by Troops in Israel for First Time

The United States is preparing to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system to Israel, operated by American soldiers, in anticipation of a potential Iranian response to an expected Israeli attack. This would mark the first time US air defense batteries are stationed in Israel and operated by US troops. The THAAD system, valued at approximately $3 billion, is designed to intercept ballistic missiles during their terminal phase.
