On December 26, 2024, Russia's aviation authority announced the temporary closure of all four major airports in Moscow—Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky—as well as Kaluga airport, located approximately 160 kilometers southwest of the capital. The closures were implemented as a precautionary measure due to the risk of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks. As a result of the airport shutdowns, over 150 flights have been canceled, and both arrivals and departures have been halted.
