Farmers across Europe have welcomed the move, expressing relief as they face increasing attacks on livestock due to rising wolf numbers. However, environmental groups and scientists warn that the decision, which they argue is not based on science, could harm wolf populations and biodiversity. The change may also pave the way for adjustments in the protection status of other species. Notably, Britain opposed the proposal.
