China Sanctions Seven U.S. Military Firms Including Raytheon Canada Over Arms Sales to Taiwan
Dec 27, 2024, 08:04 AM
China has announced sanctions against seven U.S. military firms and their senior executives in response to recent arms sales to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that these measures are a direct reaction to the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, which includes provisions deemed negative towards China and violates the one-China principle. The sanctioned companies include Raytheon Canada, Raytheon Australia, Insitu Inc., Hudson Technologies Co., Saronic Technologies, Aerkomm Inc., and Oceaneering International, Inc. The sanctions, effective December 27, 2024, are portrayed by China as necessary to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, following what it describes as interference in its internal affairs by the U.S.
