Japan Imposes Trade Restrictions on China-Based Firms Supporting Russia's War in Ukraine on June 21
Jun 21, 2024, 06:08 AM
Japan has imposed trade restrictions on China-based companies as part of a new round of sanctions against individuals and groups supporting Russia's war in Ukraine. This marks the first time Japan has sanctioned Chinese firms over their support for Russian aggression. The sanctions, announced on June 21 by Japan's foreign ministry, also target 11 individuals and 42 companies from Russia, as well as firms from India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the UAE. China's Foreign Ministry criticized Japan's decision, stating that Japan is determined to follow unilateral sanctions imposed by some countries, disregarding China's solemn position.
