Authorities Seize Firearms, 4.18 Pounds of Fentanyl in Varela's Livermore Investigation
Nov 7, 2024, 04:50 AM
The investigation into a man reportedly selling firearms illegally from his home in Livermore led authorities to seize multiple firearms, ammunition, and narcotics. Police also seized cash and items used to traffic and manufacture narcotics. Investigators first became aware of the 43-year-old Varela in March 2023 when he sold a regulated military-grade laser, which had been stolen by a military officer, to a buyer. During a search warrant at Varela's residence on the 1100 block of 16th Street in Oakland, authorities seized 4.18 pounds of fentanyl, ammunition, U.S. currency, and items used to traffic and manufacture narcotics. Two additional suspects were arrested during the search.
