Trump Team Distances from 800-Mile Ukraine Peace Plan; Zelenskyy Rejects
Nov 10, 2024, 06:44 AM
President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has distanced itself from a proposed Ukraine peace plan outlined by Republican strategist Bryan Lanza. The team clarified that Lanza does not speak for Trump. The peace plan, which includes an 800-mile demilitarized zone between Russian and Ukrainian forces, has been rejected by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who argues it would be a loss for Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's staffers had outlined the plan. Hungarian leader Viktor Orban has expressed concerns that Europe cannot bear the financial burden of supporting Ukraine if Trump withdraws U.S. support. Politico reported Zelenskyy's rejection of the plan. Reuters noted that Trump's spokesman reiterated Lanza does not speak for the president-elect.
