The Thai government is considering lifting a 52-year-old ban on alcohol sales between 2 PM and 5 PM. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has indicated that the proposal, put forward by the Restaurant Operators Association of Thailand, aims to support the struggling tourism industry and restaurant operators facing rising costs and weak consumer spending. The decision now rests with the lower and upper houses of parliament. Health Minister Somsak Thapsutin confirmed that the proposal is under consideration. The measure is intended to ease the plight of restaurant operators and promote tourism.
