NBA Suspends Naji Marshall for 4 Games, Jusuf Nurkic for 3, and P.J. Washington for 1 After Mavericks-Suns Altercation
Dec 28, 2024, 08:00 PM
The NBA has issued suspensions to three players following an on-court altercation during the Dallas Mavericks' 98-89 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. The incident occurred with 9:02 left in the third quarter when Phoenix center Jusuf Nurkic committed an offensive foul on Mavericks center Daniel Gafford. Nurkic then confronted Dallas forward Naji Marshall, striking him in the head, which led to Marshall retaliating with a punch. Dallas forward P.J. Washington further escalated the situation by shoving Nurkic to the ground. All three players were ejected from the game. The NBA handed down a four-game suspension without pay to Marshall, a three-game suspension without pay to Nurkic, and a one-game suspension without pay to Washington. The NBA noted that Marshall attempted to further engage Nurkic in a hostile manner outside the locker rooms, which may have contributed to his longer suspension. The financial impact of the suspensions includes a loss of $375,000 for Nurkic, $236,452 for Marshall, and $89,080 for Washington.
