House of Commons Unanimously Passes #C58 Bill Banning Replacement Workers
May 27, 2024, 08:10 PM
The House of Commons has unanimously passed a bill banning the use of replacement workers during strikes and lockouts at federally regulated workplaces, such as airlines, banks, and telecoms. The legislation, referred to as the 'anti-scab' bill, is part of the NDP’s supply and confidence agreement with the governing Liberals. The bill, known as #C58, will now proceed to the Senate for further consideration. This move, described by Kevin Lamoureux as sending a powerful message, is seen as a significant victory for workers and marks the culmination of a decades-long fight.
