Trump Calls US a 'Disaster' After New Orleans and Las Vegas Attacks, Urges CIA Action Against Terrorism
Jan 2, 2025, 11:50 AM
President-elect Donald Trump has issued a scathing critique of the United States, labeling it a 'disaster' and a 'laughing stock' globally, in response to recent violent incidents. Trump attributes the country's current state to 'open borders' and 'weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership' under President Joe Biden. He specifically criticized the Department of Justice, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors for failing to protect Americans from 'violent scum' and focusing instead on political attacks against him. Trump's comments come in the wake of a deadly truck attack in New Orleans, which killed at least 15 people, and an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside his Las Vegas hotel, which resulted in one death and seven injuries. Both incidents are being investigated as potential acts of terrorism, with the New Orleans attack carried out by Shamsud Din Jabbar, a US Army veteran carrying an ISIS flag, and the vehicles involved in both attacks rented via the Turo platform. Trump called for immediate action from the CIA to address what he described as a 'violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy' across the nation, urging a return to strong leadership as he prepares to assume office on January 20th.
