China Rejects Guatemalan Coffee and Macadamia Nuts Over Taiwan Ties, Says Guatemalan President
May 25, 2024, 01:01 AM
China has rejected shipments of coffee and macadamia nuts from Guatemala, a move that Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei attributes to the country's ties with Taiwan. The rejection follows a video meeting between President Giammattei and a regional leader of Taiwan, as well as the attendance of Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez at the inauguration of Taiwan's President Lai. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson commented on the situation. The Guatemalan Exporters Association (Agexport) confirmed the rejection of these imports.
