Navy's Blake Horvath Leads Midshipmen to 21-20 Victory Over Oklahoma in Armed Forces Bowl, Securing First 10-Win Season Since 2019
Dec 27, 2024, 08:02 PM
In a thrilling finish to the Armed Forces Bowl, Navy secured a 21-20 victory over Oklahoma, marking the Midshipmen's first 10-win season since 2019. The game, held at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, saw Navy quarterback Blake Horvath make history with a 95-yard touchdown run, the longest in both Navy and Armed Forces Bowl history. Despite Oklahoma taking an early 14-0 lead, Navy mounted a comeback, scoring 21 unanswered points. The Sooners, led by quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., made a late push, scoring a touchdown with six seconds remaining, but their attempt at a two-point conversion to win the game was thwarted by a Navy sack, sealing the victory for the Midshipmen. Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables' decision to go for two points ultimately fell short.
