Yemen's Houthis Launch Hypersonic Missiles at Israel, Targeting Ben Gurion Airport and Jerusalem Power Station
Dec 30, 2024, 10:06 PM
The Houthi rebels from Yemen, backed by Iran, launched two ballistic missile attacks targeting Israel. The first missile, identified as a 'Palestine-2', aimed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, while the second, a 'Zulfiqar', targeted a power station south of Jerusalem. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed intercepting a missile launched from Yemen, which triggered red alerts in the Tel Aviv area. The Houthis, through their military spokesperson Yahya Saree, also claimed responsibility for an attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, amid preparations for a major US airstrike on Yemen. The attacks caused chaos at Ben Gurion Airport, with passengers running to shelters, and led to the temporary suspension of flights. The missiles used were described as hypersonic.
