The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was at Sanaa International Airport in Yemen when it was struck by Israeli airstrikes about two hours ago. The attack occurred as Tedros and his team were preparing to board a flight, resulting in damage to the airport's infrastructure, including the air traffic control tower, departure lounge, and runway. At least two people were reported killed at the airport, and one of the WHO's plane crew members was injured. Tedros confirmed that he and his UN colleagues were unharmed but would need to wait for repairs to the airport before departing. The WHO mission in Yemen, aimed at negotiating the release of detained UN staff and assessing the country's health and humanitarian situation, concluded on the day of the attack.
