David Trone Spends $62M in Maryland Senate Primary Against Angela Alsobrooks, Leads 39% to 34%
May 14, 2024, 09:59 AM
Rep. David Trone has invested nearly $62 million of his own money in his campaign to become the next Democratic senator representing Maryland, according to AdImpact. Trone faces Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in a closely contested primary. A recent poll by Concord Public Opinion shows Alsobrooks leading with 39% to Trone's 34%, with 27% undecided. The race is seen as crucial in determining control of the U.S. Senate, with the winner likely to face former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan in the general election. Trone has spent more on ads in his statewide race than President Biden’s re-election campaign has nationwide. The primary election is being held today, May 14, with polls open until 8:00 pm.
