Study in Nature Genetics Identifies 95 Loci, 43 Genes Linked to PTSD
Apr 18, 2024, 05:48 PM
A significant advancement in the study of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) genetics has been achieved with researchers identifying 95 genetic loci linked to the disorder, 80 of which were previously unknown. The study, published in Nature Genetics and conducted by the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) in collaboration with the Broad Institute and other partners, analyzed genetic data from over 1.2 million individuals. This research marks a rapid-discovery phase in psychiatric Genomic-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and has also pinpointed 43 potentially causal genes for PTSD.
