Chennai Police Beat Parents of 10-Year-Old Renukaswamy After Reporting Rape by Neighbor
Sep 7, 2024, 09:35 AM
A 10-year-old girl from Chennai, identified as Renukaswamy, has reportedly been repeatedly raped by a neighbor, who is a water can supplier. The parents of the rape survivor were allegedly mistreated and beaten by police officers at the Anna Nagar all-women police station. The parents were questioned until 1:00 am, and the child witnessed the ill-treatment of her parents in the presence of the accused. The police have been criticized for failing to arrest the suspect, delaying mandatory counseling for the child, and showing 'torture' photos to the parents.
