YouTube TV Raises Subscription Price to $82.99 Starting January 13, 2025, Citing Rising Content Costs
Dec 13, 2024, 03:10 AM
YouTube TV has announced a price increase for its base plan subscription, raising the monthly fee by $10 from $72.99 to $82.99 starting January 13, 2025. The company cited the rising cost of content and investments in service quality as reasons for the hike. This change will affect existing subscribers in their next billing cycle on or after the specified date, while new subscribers will immediately pay the new rate. YouTube TV has experienced several price increases since its launch in 2017 at $35 per month, with the last increase in March 2023. The platform currently offers over 100 channels, unlimited DVR storage, and the ability to share six accounts per household with three concurrent streams. The price adjustment has sparked a wave of frustration among subscribers, with some considering cancelling their subscriptions. YouTube TV has over 8 million subscribers, and its new price matches the cost of Disney's Hulu + Live TV bundle. The company has also attributed its recent hikes to rising operational costs and has added Spanish-language networks to its service.
