China Vows Measures Against New U.S. Tariffs on Chips and EVs
May 14, 2024, 11:17 AM
China has vowed to take 'all necessary measures' in response to new U.S. tariffs, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commerce Ministry. The tariffs, which target Chinese goods including chips and electric vehicles, have been labeled as 'political manipulation' by China. The Commerce Ministry has called on the U.S. to correct its 'wrongdoings' and cancel the additional tariff measures, stating that the tariff hike violates President Biden's commitment to not suppress China's development or seek decoupling. China has lodged solemn representations and expressed strong dissatisfaction, pledging to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. Additionally, China opposes the unilateral tariff hikes that violate WTO rules.
