World Aquatics Confirms Increased Drug Testing for Chinese Swimmers, Eight Tests Before Paris Olympics
Jul 15, 2024, 08:00 PM
The World Aquatics Anti-Doping Audit Review Committee has released a report confirming that Chinese swimmers will undergo increased drug testing ahead of the Paris Olympics. The report, published on July 13, states that Chinese athletes will be tested at least eight times between the start of the year and the opening ceremony on July 26. This decision follows a scandal involving positive doping tests among Chinese swimmers. Despite the controversy, the audit review committee found no irregularities, mismanagement, or cover-up in World Aquatics' decision not to appeal the decisions made by the China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) regarding the TMZ case involving 23 Chinese swimmers. US swimmers and the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) have expressed their disgust that doped Chinese athletes are allowed to compete in the Olympics. World Aquatics has increased testing for a certain number of athletes from specific nations to four times between January 1 and the opening of the Olympics.
