Washington Post Won't Endorse Presidential Candidates Anymore, First Time in 36 Years
Oct 25, 2024, 04:41 PM
The Washington Post has announced that it will not endorse a presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 election, nor in any future presidential elections, marking a significant departure from its decades-long tradition. This is the first time in 36 years that the newspaper has refrained from endorsing a presidential candidate. Publisher and CEO Will Lewis stated in a note to readers that the decision reflects a return to the paper's roots of neutrality and independence, emphasizing, "Our job as the newspaper of the capital city of the most important country in the world is to be independent."
