India Sets World Record with 642 Million Voters in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Announces EC in New Delhi

The Election Commission of India held a press conference in New Delhi at 12:30 PM ahead of the Lok Sabha election results, scheduled for June 4. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that India has set a world record with 642 million voters participating in the 2024 general elections. This number is 1.5 times the combined voter count of all G7 countries and 2.5 times that of the 27 European Union countries. Among these voters, 312 million were women, marking the highest female voter turnout globally. Kumar also highlighted the record voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir, which was the highest in the last four decades. The Election Commission expressed gratitude to polling personnel and gave a standing ovation to all voters for their participation.
