Kentucky Football and Swimming Programs Penalized for NCAA Violations, Two-Year Probation, 2021 Wins Vacated
Aug 2, 2024, 04:37 PM
The University of Kentucky's football and swimming programs have been found guilty of NCAA rules violations. The NCAA's Committee on Infractions announced that at least 11 football players received payments for work not performed between spring 2021 and March 2022. As a result, Kentucky football will vacate all wins from the 2021 season, including a 10-3 season, and will be placed on a two-year probation. Additionally, the swimming program was penalized for running unsanctioned practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. The university has agreed to these penalties, which include vacating records of games in which ineligible players participated and a fine. The NCAA confirmed that the school had no prior knowledge of these violations. This case was classified as a Level II case by the NCAA, and the football violations stemmed from players working at UK Healthcare but not clocking hours.
