Russia Fires 93 Missiles, 200 Drones in One of Largest Attacks on Ukraine's Energy Grid

On December 13, 2024, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, firing 93 missiles, including hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and at least one North Korean missile, as well as nearly 200 drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this was one of the largest attacks on Ukraine's energy system. Air raid alerts were declared across all regions of Ukraine as Russian forces targeted critical infrastructure. Energy Minister German Galushchenko reported that the energy sector was under massive attack. Ukrainian forces intercepted 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles shot down by F-16 fighter jets. The attack severely damaged energy facilities across the country, leading to widespread power outages.
