UCF Rallies from 21-Point Deficit to Defeat TCU 35-34 in Big 12 Opener
Sep 15, 2024, 02:53 AM
In a dramatic Big 12 opener, UCF rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat TCU 35-34. TCU initially led 28-7 and 31-13, with quarterback Josh Hoover throwing for four touchdowns. Despite a strong performance by Hoover, who completed 20 of 30 passes for 230 yards, TCU's defense struggled to contain UCF's offense. UCF's RJ Harvey scored three touchdowns, including a critical two-point conversion that brought the Knights within three points. With 36 seconds remaining, UCF took the lead on a PAT following a touchdown pass from KJ Jefferson to Kobe Hudson. TCU had a chance to win with a 58-yard field goal attempt by Kyle Lemmermann, but the kick went wide right, sealing UCF's comeback victory. The game was tied 21-7 at the end of the half, and TCU led 31-20 at the end of the 3rd quarter. A timeout by UCF with 36 seconds left set up the final moments.
