VisitTSMC to Receive $350 Million High NA EUV Chip Machines from ASML This Year
Nov 1, 2024, 04:54 AM
TSMC is set to receive its first shipment of next-generation high NA EUV chipmaking machines from Dutch supplier ASML by the end of this year. The machines, which are valued at $350 million each, are considered the world's most advanced chipmaking equipment. This delivery comes just months behind U.S. rival Intel. TSMC's early production yields at its Arizona fab are 4% better than its Taiwanese yields, marking a significant breakthrough for its U.S. expansion. Additionally, TSMC's first plant on the Japanese island of Kyushu will begin mass production and shipments at the end of 2024, contributing to a national chip-sector-revival project with investments totaling about 5 trillion yen ($32.7 billion). Furthermore, TSMC's 2nm process tech claims major improvements in SRAM scaling.
