TSMC Produces 5 nm Chips in Arizona for World’s Most Valuable Company, Ahead of Schedule

TSMC has begun producing 5 nm computer processors in Arizona for the world’s most valuable company, marking a significant milestone for the CHIPS Act. The production is ahead of schedule, countering previous skepticism about the initiative's success. The CHIPS Act has provided $39 billion in direct grants and $75 billion in loans and loan guarantees to support semiconductor investments. The funds from the CHIPS Act will also support projects in next-generation wireless, AI computing, and radar power systems for U.S. military and national defense.
